Matchmaking: A Sampler

Globally - Uganda: Poultry Farm Business Plan

Recently WorldVenture sent a team to Gulu, Uganda to work beside one of their own missionaries.  The Team was created using BAMmatch and consisted of six business professionals from both Africa and the United States.  From a CPA to a professional poultry expert, every member of the team was able to add their own set of business skills to make the trip a success.  BAMmatch was also able to host all the conversations and training discussions that took place prior to the trip.

N. Carolina - Lebanon: Retail Arts

A small company in Beirut that salvages historic materials from demolition sites and employs marginalized people to turn the material into works of art has linked up with Ed, a business man in North Carolina.  He is helping the company explore sales channels in the US.  Samples have been sent and the process is moving forward.

Tennessee - Brazil: Publishing

Recently, John West from Tennessee went to Sao Paulo, Brazil to help a publishing house improve its operations. He reports a very successful trip, as does the business that he went to help. A second coaching trip is being planned, with an expanded team.

We worked with both John and the business to establish a good relationship, after which they were able to create clear deliverables for the trip, which laid the foundation for its success.

Read John's trip report, posted in the BAMconnect forum.    Login or  become a member  (free for life!) to read John's story.

South Carolina – Middle East

A BAM practitioner in a major city in the Middle East needed coaching to expand his business from one retail storefront to a wider wholesale position.  Through his business he was seeing members of a majority people deciding to follow Jesus and was helping start up a church.  Expanding to wholesaling would help him create more jobs and expand his relationships and impact.  Without compromising his security, BAMmatch found a small circle of businessmen who had the right skill sets and industry experience to be a great match.

Colorado - Philippines:  Architecture

Doug, who operates an architecture firm in Colorado, traveled to Davao City, Philippines, to consult with a couple of local Christian architects and to present at the local university.  One of those Philippino architects is planning to join Doug on a design trip to west Africa.

Washington -South Africa:  Coaching entrepreneurs

Ray, a recent MBA grad in a large company in the state of Washington, went to South Africa to help train and mentor entrepreneurs connected with a BAM organization that had recently put an Opportunity on the site.

Colorado - Mozambique:  Basic biz coaching

Three business men from Cherry Hills Communiy Church went to Mozambique, Africa, to help an egg business improve its market position, brand, and financial management.  None of them knew any thing about eggs but they knew business.  They are continuing to consult via Skype and email.  Great results.  Read the story.

Delaware - Macau:  University Business Seminars

Ed from Delaware went to Macau to do business seminars and interact with university students. Repeat trips are planned to Macau and other locations.

Colorado - Guinea:  Start up research & training

Two businessmen from a Denver area church went to upper Guinea to help research and evaluate potential BAM businesses, as well as to interact and train university students in basic Business101 principles.  The best biz idea is being built into a startup plan.

Arizona - Singapore:  Regional BAM coordination

A couple is headed to Singapore to coordinate regional BAM work for the organization that we matched them with.

N.Carolina, Chicago & N.California - Regional "sales"

Several business people are working in their own communities to cast vision and motivate business people to get involved in BAM projects. They are involved on a part time basis in a manner that ebbs and flows with their day job requirements.

California & Colorado - The World:  Import/Export

Three business people are designing an import/export company that focuses on creating jobs in impoverished communities around the world, in communities where churches and NGOs are working on various spiritual and community development efforts.

Colorado - Rwanda:  Eco-tourism

We brokered multiple conversations, face to face and by email, between people setting up a BAM operation in Rwanda with a businessman from the Denver area.  They saw a good fit and, when we "turned them loose" were working to see if timing and other details would permit a multi-year engagement.

Matches in motion.

We are routinely in 6-10 matching conversations at any given time.  A sample:
A business student in Paris and an opportunity in francophone Africa.
Two businessmen in Cote d'Ivoire and an opportunities in west Africa.
A clothing designer/entrepreneur from New Zealand and small biz creation in Uganda.
A business coach from Colorado leading a small team of businessmen to the Philippines.
A couple from Oregon and BAM coordination in a country in South America.
A web designer from Colorado and a BAM operation in Africa.
A small businessman from Colorado to coach entrepreneurs in Asia.
